Stay Curious

If there’s one thing I am as a curator, gallerist, and advocate for the arts, it is curious. I love asking “what if?” and “why not?”

One of my favorite parts of this job is pushing artists to look in the deep spaces of this void we call “contemporary art,” and discover a dark spot upon which they can shed some light.

That’s why work like Bradley Parsons’ gets me so excited. By all traditional standards, his whimsical sculptures created from a found assortment of ceramic debris should not be possible.

Firing dozens of different types of clay from various eras all together, joined with fresh clay and finished with new glaze, should be a monumental disaster. And yet, Brad was curious. He did it anyways. And his finished sculptures and a one-of-a-kind treasure hunt full of childhood memories and fairytale-like narratives.

In a lot of ways, the industry of art is all one big experiment. It’s exciting, it’s uncertain (especially right now), and it’s complicated.

As our exhibition with Bradley Parsons comes to a close, I invite you to explore his work with curiosity.
